RØNNE – A 41-year-old man from Rønne on the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea has voluntarily had his detention extended by another four weeks at the Court on Bornholm, so he has been in custody for over a year.

Charged with rape and violence
The man has been in custody since September 9 last year on reasonable suspicion that he is guilty of the charges brought.

The 40-year-old was arrested on September 8 at 11 p.m., and charged with two rapes, most recently on September 7, as well as two cases of violence, in April and August.

The court has banned both minutes from the constitutional hearing and name bans, which limit the press's opportunities to describe the case further.
