RØNNE - The world's largest fast ferry, the Bornholm Line's Express 5 for the route between Rønne and Ystad has, after several years in a hall at Austal's fast ferry yard in the Philippines, got water under both hulls.

1,610 passengers
The ferry is the world's largest in terms of the number of cars and passengers. The ferry can accommodate up to 1,610 passengers and can sail with 451 cars on the two car decks.

Bornholmslinjen took over sailing to Bornholm in the autumn of 2018, and since then the interest in Bornholm has been so great that the capacity on the ferry route was quickly challenged, and therefore Molslinjen, which owns Bornholmslinjen, together with the Ministry of Transport, already in 2019 decided to place an order for the construction of Express 5 .


Delivered at the turn of the year
The work to complete Express 5 now continues on the water.

According to the plan, the ferry is to be handed over to the Molslinjen around the turn of the year 2022/2023. The ferry will then sail the long way home to Bornholm and the home port in Rønne, where Express 5 is scheduled to have its first trip with passengers on 20 March 2023.
